Now, Shenmue 3 is finally set to launch on Steam, and those who Kickstarted the game are still awaiting their codes. But according to a recent update from the developer, backers will get their codes “soon.”

Developer YS Net recently posted an update for Shenmue 3 through Kickstarter. According to the information, steam codes are “almost ready and will be available soon.” With the game launching tomorrow (November 19), the word “soon” may be discouraging and or confusing, as opposed to having a concrete date and time. The hope would be that soon means the codes will be made available tomorrow, the day the game releases on Steam
Players will apparently soon receive the codes, and then be able to download the game on Steam, followed by redeeming their backer code. Shenmue, which is receiving an anime adaptation through Adult Swim and Crunchyroll in the future, is a cult-classic type series. Those who dive deep into the games truly enjoy the series.
The wait to play the game has already been quite difficult for many who love the series. Shenmue 3 launched as a PS4 and Epic Games Store exclusive last year, so there are plenty of fans and Kickstarter backers who have waited almost two decades for another Shenmue, and then had to wait an additional year. If the game releases on Steam for the public, and those who backed the game have to wait even longer, that would be a bummer. Hopefully, the codes arrive shortly and backers can enjoy the game they’ve been waited years for.
Shenmue 3 is available for PlayStation 4 and PC, with the Steam version releasing on November 19, 2020.
