It’s already been confirmed by series lead Tatiana Maslany that She-Hulk herself will be a fully CGI character on the upcoming Disney Plus show. So that particular news isn’t exactly a surprise to anybody who’s been paying close attention to the news surrounding She-Hulk. However, now one of Maslany’s co-stars has offered up a glimpse at exactly what the actors see during those computer-driven moments, and it’s kind of hilarious.

Space Force star Ginger Gonzaga, who plays the best friend of Maslany’s Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, recently treated fans to a glimpse behind the scenes of the series on her Instagram story. The quick shot features Maslany in what looks like a rather unwieldy contraption meant as a stand-in for her character’s big, green alter ego. The rig includes a number of performance capture dots on her face and an eerily imposing green head hovering above her own, apparently meant to act as a reference for where the other actors should look during scenes where She-Hulk features its titular hero.

“And shout out to #jenhulk (as we nicknamed her),” Gonzaga said in her story, “this is what @tatianamaslany has to hold on top of her head when she’s Shulkie.” As adorable as the name “Shulkie” is, the real takeaway here is just how thrown together the big green head looks for a franchise that arguably now has more experience with CGI than almost any other out there. That’s not to say that Marvel Studios seems to be dropping the ball or anything. It’s just funny seeing the difference between the highly-polished end product and the much more rough work-in-progress shots, such as the always-cute Alligator Loki.

She-Hulk already looks to have a bit of a different feel compared to most of Marvel Studios’ other offerings. While even the most light-hearted projects like Hawkeye and Thor: Ragnarok still tend to have a more traditional superhero movie structure and vibe, She-Hulk will apparently be a half-hour legal comedy. That’s right. Fans can expect a little less Daredevil and a little more Night Court.

This seems to fit pretty well with the She-Hulk comics’ penchant for fourth-wall-breaking humor. So fans of the originals have that to look forward to, while newcomers will be able to enjoy something a little different from the current superhero movie champion studio. Maybe a cameo from Sam Waterson could top things off.

She-Hulk is currently set to release in 2022 on Disney Plus.
