For months the details of the She-Hulk series have been pretty much kept under lock and key. Some of the only confirmed information is that the series will be directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia, with Jessica Gao in the position as its head writer. For fans, the only tease for what’s to come has been mini clips seen in the Disney sizzle reel from Disney Plus Day back in November, but no official trailer for the show has been released yet. It’s also been known that She-Hulk is set to hit the Disney Plus streaming service sometime during 2022, but the date was never public knowledge— but it might have just been revealed.

A recent leak from the Disney Plus UK site included the release date for the first episode of the She-Hulk small screen debut, which is supposedly set for August 17th, 2022, accompanied by a description for the series. It was a part of a blog-style post about new series set to come to the streaming site, including the show Ms. Marvel, which is Marvel Studios’ next anticipated series coming to the streamer on June 8th. The post has now been deleted from the Disney Plus UK site, along with all mentioning of the series.

Beyond the expected release date, the official synopsis for the series seems to align with the comic origin of the She-Hulk character. The synopsis reads, “She-Hulk, a new comedy series coming to Disney+, stars Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk/Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who specializes in superhuman-oriented legal cases.” It’s also been announced that actor Tim Roth is set to reprise his role as Abomination from Edward Norton’s The Incredible Hulk (2008), despite the green main character being recast with actor Mark Ruffalo in 2012 with the release of The Avengers. The series cast is also supposed to include Jameela Jamil in the role of the villain Titania, Josh Segarra, Ginger Gonzaga, and Renee Elise Goldsberry.

It seems that despite being added to the vast catalog of super-hero-themed series, She-Hulk will find a way to stand out among the rest. In comparison to the other shows that have come before it, She-Hulk is branded as a comedy series, which has a strong chance of working in its favor. It’ll be something new for the MCU to take on, a breath of fresh air in a way, which will help lighten the mood for fans who are still reeling from the darkness of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the most recent installation Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

With the suspected She-Hulk release date looming later this summer, the anticipation for the mighty green female-fronted series continues to grow.

She-Hulk is expected to release on Disney Plus in 2022.
