Ever since Jennifer Walters entered the MCU as the world’s second Hulk, the show introduced some characters who are fascinated with She-Hulk’s blood as some bad guys try to seize her gamma powers for their own villainous purposes. It makes perfect sense then to pay off that plot line with some kind of creature squaring off against the two cousins, yet the one to do so could very well be a Red Hulk variant, despite the character being believed to be out of contention due to William Hurt’s passing.

As several YouTubers and social media users have pointed out (via The Direct), Jen may have alerted viewers to all of this. This week’s teaser shows a brief glance at an unknown red figure that pops up during the Hulk and Abomination rematch that seems to be taking place. While Marvel Studios’ official 30-second trailer introduces very little new footage, right at the 0:25 mark there’s a distinctly red arm near Emil and Bruce, which adds some mystery to the series’ 35-minute finale.
So who is this mystery figure exactly? Well, the biggest candidate right now is Jen’s undesired suitor and client Todd, who’s practically been revealed to be one of the Intelligencia masterminds and seems utterly obsessed with She-Hulk’s powers. Nevertheless, considering She-Hulk’s proclivity to using obscure comic book characters, it could also be Madman, one of The Leader’s henchmen, though that one seems a bit unlikely given there’s no other reference to either character in the show.
It’s almost impossible to imagine Hurt’s Thunderbolt Ross being recast this way, so there’s also the chance that a random Intelligencia user could be the one getting enough gamma exposure to transform them into some kind of red monstrosity. Since Samuel Sterns, a.k.a. The Leader, is already confirmed to be a Captain America: New World Order villain, She-Hulk would appear to be one of the best MCU chapters to give fans a first taste of Tim Blake Nelson’s disfigured return.
Whatever the case, She-Hulk’s writers must have planned some surprises for the series finale, and the location of Abomination and Hulk’s fight already promises to explain what kind of strange mindfulness guru Emil has become, even if it’s not the World War Hulk preview some fans might have hoped for.
She-Hulk is currently available on Disney Plus.
